The Practical Pro is made to the same dimensions as the Musashi katana, but without the higher quality fittings and bo-hi (blood groove) in order to save cost. This sword is excellent for the larger statured budoka, or those wanting to train with a large sword approaching the size of a nodachi (horse or field sword). The blade is 29 1/2" long and the tsukka is 15" long. The extra length and heft makes it easy to cut very powerfully with, but can be a handful for those who are smaller or lack experience.

The tsukka is wrapped with actual same (skin from the back of a ray), and then with imitation leather for a solid grip.

The tsuba represents the "Wheel of Dharma", symbolic of the teachings of the Buddha.

These come with a medium (chu) kissaki and are hand forged, high carbon steel blades. They are differentially tempered using a traditional claying method to achieve the hamon (temper line) shown above - but more importantly, it gives a very hard edge (Rc60) and a soft, flexible back (Rc40). The Pro model also gives a finer quality polish than the others in the Practical Series.
