Note the beautifully polished and lacquered saya (scabbard), and the Japanese cotton sageo (scabbard cord).

Comes with a sword bag of the finest fabric.

The blade is a high carbon (1065) steel, with a chu-kissaki (medium tip), differentially tempered using a traditional claying method to produce the hamon (temper line), which is not only a thing of beauty but an indicator that the edge is very hard (Rc 60) while the back is softer and more resilient (Rc40), making the sword stronger overall.

Note the clarity and beauty of the hamon, as well as the deep bo-hi (blood groove) that runs the entire back of the blade. The blade polishing is also taken to a step well above the Practical Series, making the hamon stand out that much more.

The 13 3/4" tsukka (handle) is plenty long for proper leverage when cutting, and is wrapped in genuine same (skin from the back of a ray) and Japanese cotton tsukka-ito (handle wrapping).

The bumpy texture of the same is more evident here, as well as the finely crafted menuki (handle decoration) and tsuba (guard). The beautiful tsuba tells the story of a praying mantis stalking a cricket, unaware than he himself is being stalked by the Golden Oriole.

All of the Forged Series also come with a traditional cleaning kit for proper maintenance of your blade.
